Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Best deal on RNS510

    Looking to buy an RNS510 for my GT. Can anyone recommend the best place to get one? There's no shortage of them on ebay so I'd like to buy from someone or somewhere that's reputable and I know I won't have any issues.

    At the moment this one seems a good buy

    VW RNS 510 SAT NAV RNS510 Version C LED GOLF PASSAT | eBay

    I like it cause it seems to have the new LED screen, the Australian maps and it has the video in motion too.

    A lot of them seem to be either used or re manufactured - should I be worried?


    What does everyone think?

    you won't need to buy a GPS antenna (their advert appears to indicate they supply one)

        Maps aren't the latest. V4 is the latest (which I have). But 12 mos warranty? If that’s true it seems like a good deal. I bought one off eBay and it’s been relatively incident free. Only 2 things have happened in 12 mos, on 2 occasions it randomly went blank for about an hour and then was good again. Hasn't happened again since, but I guess one day it will just stop working all together. Will give me a good excuse to buy a newer one like this! The RNS is brilliant, jump in someones elses new car and check out their gps, their all garbage compared to the vw one.

        I say go for it.

          Mate thats a good buy, ive had mine nearly 9 months and only had it go to sleep once for 1 hr in that time other wise its been faultless
          as long as its under $1000 there is no GST and there easy to install your self .
          And make sure you get the free Aerial adapter.
