Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Installing Slimline DRLs on R32

    Gday all!!!

Have a project for this coming weekend to install some slimline DRLs from TMTuning.
Same as these ones: TMTuning Slimline DRLs

I've seen some install guides that use silicone adhesive to mount the lights but I've also seen one that uses the provided mount hardware...but had no pics. I haven't seen the lights yet (coming Tuesday) so not sure what the mounting hardware looks like.

Has anyone installed these without using silicone adhesive?

    Two more questions:

    1) I'm going to be cutting the grills...has anyone got a good place for me to buy a spare set of these? In case I want to revert back in the future...

    2) Does anyone have an easy access point to a 12V Ignition wire in the engine bay?

Is the fuse/fuse holder that's circled in blue to be in series with the 12V ignition connection?

Do I cut the looped wire in half and connect one end with a spade connector to connect to fuse box and the other end solder to DRL red wire?

The fuse holder looks like it clips onto something...fuse box?

Gday Ian, thread 326 doesn't seem to be your thread? Can you provide your link?

I've got Xenons and not sure I'll have the same ignition wire?

Do you have a pic of the electrician's splicing?
