Jetta 2.0TFSI grinding in the steering

Hi guys,
Just noticed over the past month or so now that when I am at walking pace or below and turning the wheel from lock to lock, as in parking the car, that there is a grinding, shooshing kind of noise coming from the front of the car. It is something to do with the mechanics of the steering. The power steering is cool so there is no problems there. Is it the CV joints?? I have no idea why it would be considering it does it when I'm stationary but I'm not real savy with these front wheel drive cars. Anyone had any similar circumstances? Any advice prior to heading into VW, would be appreciated. Or, if someone can recommend someone in Brisbane. I am looking for a good mechanic too to be to do my servicing for me without charging like a wounded bull. Thanks guys.

It could be two things (well probably many more but these two are common).

The strut bellows need greasing up (just the cost of the special grease) or
The strut bearings are stuffed and need replacement - )around $20 each for the part IIRC but the struts have to be removed to fit)

Both fixes are cheap.

I think I had this similar And went to dealer and ask for check. They return said something abOut bearing from the steering colume need grease or replace. I think it means the above post. They said not too worry, if getting louder or worse then need to attend otherwise is ok. Since then now is 2 years and I still haven't done a thing and the noise still very little. Now I know is a cheap fix I may do it next service. The dealer quote me $600 back then. What the F?

Maverick how this thing be done? Do they need to take the whole section apart?big or minor job? Just want to know how much labour they will charge?
