  • After some help from WA DSG owners

    Hey all,
So got my R32 just over a month ago and just had it checked out for a few little things today.
One of them being after a sustained low speed (ie: traffic) drive the dsg in 'd' seems to be more cluncky than normal. I dont beleive that this car is suffering from the solenoid problem (drove several before getting this one and one of them was very bad) however i would like to see how another car goes in the same situation.
So here is the call out if anyone is willing to help please let me know. Would prefer a r32 (cause we all know they are the best!!!!) however any dsg is fine and all i need is for you to do a short drive in traffic (say down st georges/adelaide tce) to see if its the same as mine (does have to be in the city that is just an idea of what im after).

    Any help would be great
    Cheers
    Ross

Could be time for the dsg fluid to be changed.

That could be a good starting point.

Our Jetta TFSI was clunky prior to the 60K service, after new oil and filter for the DSG the performance markedly improved, still not as smooth as the Mk VI but better than it was prior to the service.

Also...to clear the DSG 'memory'....run it in "S" mode for 20kms or so......it certainly 'wakes' the computer up

When my wife used to drive the .:R32 regularly, she drove it for economy. When I got in it, the car just didn't have any "zing". I was told of the "S" selection to re-learn the computer....it works.

ha nice will try that. The dealer told me that i was the only person to driver the car for the first 1000k so that it would learn my style. I just smiled and nodded, you would happen to be the blue one that was picking up the guy with the red gti from the service centre on wed?? (dont want to post number plate on a open forum)

                        and as further proof.......

I ran my wife's 6R Polo in "S" mode the last few times I drove it. It does transform the 1.2lt donk into a little powerhouse. Much more responsive (especially off the line). So...moving forward to tonight.

Wifey was driving us to our daughter's place (baby sitting duties). We were in the 6R. I asked her "so, how's the Polo going?" She commented that the engine appears to be spinning much more freely, and there is now a much better response from a standing start than previously. I told her about running it in S mode. She said, "well, I detected this change on Thursday morning." I said, "I started running it in S mode on Wednesday evening when I picked up our son from the train station." Her reaction? Immediately shifted the DSG to "S". Bloody hoon.

                        Proof is in the pudding.
