Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Stupid Golf MKV TDI comfortline questions!

    Hi,

So i went ahead and purchased a great 2005 2.0l TDI Comfortline.

I have some (probably stupid) questions!

1 -Does having a telephone pick up and down button on the steering wheel mean you have bluetooth? (Seems strange for VW to have it on the wheel if it does nothing?!)

2- The MFD. I have the 1/2 screen display (warning lights on top, display on the bottom) with the auto gear selector going top to bottom on the RHS of the screen. In the owners manual this is called the "Combi instruments with Multi Function Display", but i cant get into any menus to change any options. The manual says you turn on the ignition and press the OK button on the wiper lever. Im i being thick!

Im wondering if i only have the basic combi display without MF, but as per the diagram in the manual i definitley don't have the tiptronic gear selector running along the bottom of the display.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Pretty sure you scroll through the MFD with the up/down arrows on the steering wheel, there are no controls on the wiper stalk (at least in my sportline there isn't!).

Make sure that you're reading about the correct model in the manual, it covers a lot!

I have't tried the steering wheel controls. I'll give that a go. Re, the manual. I've definitely re-read it and the picture of a 1/2 height with MFD is the same as mine, so not really sure if it has it or if im doing something wrong!

The wheel is a standard wheel across the range. The telephone button is designed for their fixed car kits and not the bluetooth ones.

You have the basic display. The MFD is a full height one without the division in the middle. You can't set your settings except with the use of the dealer tool or the aftermarket VCDS cable.
