Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2005 Golf TDI bulb replacement question

    HI,

Im going to be picking up my newly purchased TDI this weekend, and i know the light bulb fault dash light came on when i was testing it. I've told the garage i'll replace it, but wasn't sure how or if you can tell which bulb it is. From looking at the comfortline and VW spec its a clever car, but can it tell you which bulb it is or is it a case of walking around the car with the light on/brake pedal being pressed?

You can plug the car into a dealer tool or RossTech vcds and that will tell you which bulb, the cars with the full height MFD actually tell you which one has blown but without either of these two you just need to do the walkaround. Most bulbs are monitored including the footwell, headlights, indicators, brake, tail, number plate, reverse and fog lights.
