High Beam is the xenon, it has a shutter that enables it to be dipped or high beam.

You can code the lights so you can use the halogen as an additional high beam, by default it's a flash to pass and DRL use only.

Bi-Xenon = Xenon for high and dipped beam using a shutter in the projector housing.
Xenon = Xenon for dipped beam with a fixed shutter in the projector housing.
(Xenon is the type of technology but the above is what they equal on cars and in this case the MkV Golf)

The shutter is what gives the light it's pattern when dipped, for example the kick to the left or right.
    Sweet.

Considering I never had OEM to observe I just assumed from driving a car with them that's how it worked.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been without internet for a few weeks..

      Yeah they are LHD.

Would be nice to get some more info from Maverick about modifying the shutter.

Also just got some brand new OEM LED tail lights from Germany. About $300 not including shipping (yet to find out what that is going to cost, using a shipping forwarder).

          Low beam

High beam (Halogens are enabled as well)

This is without any tweaking besides flicking the switch thing inside the housing, pretty sure I have the switches right. Haven't adjusted them with an Allen key.

            Looks good.

A lot of cars don't have the kick up to the left anyway so you should be good.

I'd be keen to see a high beam shot with the halogens disabled.

            Now I'm tempted...

I'll change the coding and take another shot tomorrow if I leave work late enough
Are you not happy with your current Xenons?

Oh I'm not un happy with them but if I can get factory Xenons so cheap then I might sell my current setup.

There's an importer in Singapore that can get the LED DRL bixenon kit for the MkVI. It's about 1.6 grand if you already have the HID fitted before.

If not, it's almost 4 grand to add the factory xenon kit. Needs vagcom reprogramming.

                    A *lot* of cars?

The kick to the left is mandatory for the car to meet ADRs and thus be roadworthy.

So when is my-gti.com going to get updated with a Xenon shutter mod guide?

Soon very soon, plan to take some more photos this week with a left hand and right hand projector removed from mk v headlights.

Long time coming, but here's low and high beam with the halogens turned off.

Maybe you need a pic of it from far away.

They change in cut off at such a close distance doesn't amount to much
