Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I am currently driving a Mk6 Golf 1.4 turbo with the 7 speed DSG around the UK, I have to say it is the most infuriating thing to drive. The engine is fantastic for what it is but the DSG is so dopey it's not funny. In drive it hates to leave 6th (trying to exit a roundabout in 6th from 1000rpm doesn't work) and when finally decides to it takes forever, in sport it's just too mental. It would be fine if it changed down when slowing down to keep the little turbo engine on song but is so focused on economy it doesn't. Could be a fun car to drive but you missed the mark VW.

I guess I am use to my GTI's 6 speed DSG that is focused more on enjoyment not economy.

    Rant over, feel better now.
