Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG Tune - Custom Code - My Review

Well I got the Custom Code DSG flash from Gavin yesterday and after an extensive drive I’m very happy with the results. I’d just like to say that Gavin is a great guy, very friendly and helpful, always willing to crack a joke in typical pommie fashion.

Let me say that this is how the dsg should be from factory in the first place. I swear the car feels quicker now, more responsive and alert to input responses.

Take off: First thing you notice is the improved take off. Straight away the hesitation has been virtually eliminated. If this was possible why wasn’t it released like this in the first place?

Sport mode: Awesome. I hated sport mode b4, in fact hardly ever used it. It was so over the top. It’s somehow more intuitive now using more gears but with really sensitive kickdown. I particularly like how it changes down as you slow down ready for attack, much more intuitive.

    New rev limit is 7000rpm.

M mode: Gear change is noticeably quicker now, so much so that the dsg fart is shorter.

D mode: The change points remain the same but the actual change is quicker, quicker farts. Also kickdown is just a little more sensitive which is great cos I always thought it was a bit hard to get it to kickdown.

Overall drivability has improved greatly. I encourage anyone with a dsg to get this done, it’s a no-brainer. Oh and cheaper than the other ones too. Not that I’m bagging them, I’m sure they’re all good. I just couldn’t get any of them done here in Adelaide.

        They are $800.

Have a read of the link below and see what you think.

The handful I have done this week have given me pretty positive feedback.

This is a DSG tune thread, not an ECU tune thread

How does one get the tune if they are in the other states?

I am planning on going to the Nationals at the end of May. If you couldn't wait until then I might be able to sort something out for you.

Well after driving the car around for a while I am getting used to this tune and thought I would share my thoughts.

I notice now in M mode, when dropping down gears to engine brake, b4 the car would kind out lurch forward and then slow down whereas now it just drops to the lower gear instantly which makes for a smoother driving experience when entering corners.

I feel like taking it to VW and making them pay for the tune as this is how it should have been in the first place!

Damn sounds good! All the improvements you mentioned is what bothers me about my DSG. Became more obvious though after the power mods. I want this bad!
