Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Kick-plates for lower door (not sills)

Haven't posted in a while. I'm a lurker by nature.

My previous 06 TDI got uh ... dunked in water by the mrs. It was written off.

The good news is am about to sign off on a 2nd hand 08 TDI Pacific.

I'd like to get some stainless kick plates made up for the lower part of front doors, it already has sill kick plates.

Mrs has a bad habit of kicking the doors open when she gets out, I'd like to try and protect our latest investment.

Anyone know of someone in Melb area or close by that might be able to get this sort of thing made up? Would a motor trimmers be able to make this sort of thing up?

Yeah I'm not really thrilled about it. We went for a test drive in a new 2.0TDI golf & when we went to swap seats (so I could have a go) it was the first thing she did!!

Old habits die hards, bad habits die harder (still haven't given up the grog) so I figure I'll just wife-proof the doors instead.

Ron dennis's thoughts on kickplates on doors

"We went through some swing doors with kickplates. Ron regards kickplates as defeatist – an invitation for unreflective minions to abuse and contaminate fittings with steeltipped boots."
