  • You guys are right.. now the VW Camberwell is doing a dirty on me...

The Sales called. said the car that was "supposedly" mine was sold by other dealership and "forgot" to take off the system.

They tried to offer me the 06 model with no further discount! AS IF!

Just wanna ask.. Do I have any way legal to still get my car by the end of this month?

I got the car very cheap (Black 5Dr DSG Recaro) for $57788 drive away. I reckon they probably sold my car to someone else who offerred more.

At least they called you, I turned up at the dealer to get the final paperwork sorted out a week before my car was due to be delivered in late June last year (having ordered in early April and being allocated a specific vehicle) only to be told my car had only come off the line a few days previously! God knows what happened to "my" car!

Don't like your chances...you could probably cancel but I'd be checking other dealers first to see what they can offer you. I feel for you, know exactly how it feels.

Yep! Get your money back, THEN tell them what you think of how they've handled your business and go somewhere else. I'm from Qld so my dealer up here who I've got plenty of time for would be no use to you.

        There are good ones around.

Best of luck car/dealer hunting all over again. At least you know what sort of deal you need to recreate.

If you go in totally serious and say "I'll sign a contract now" for exactly the specs you want, DSG, Leather and the other stuff you had, I'd be suprised if the dealer doesn't come to the party. You just need to remain firm because they'll try to tell you it can't be done. You of course will know better because you've already achieved it before.

This just shouldn't happen. I can track a parcel from anywhere in the world to my door-step, but they can lose a $50K+ car? no chance.

I'm assuming deposit is down and contract is signed? If so, they would have supplied a VIN number for the car, seeing as they can't supply that VIN # car, it would seem to me the contract has become far less solid.

As for 'legally' forcing them to deliver a car, IMO there's next to no chance of this. Things happen, unless a date and penalty was specifically stated, you can't make a business deliver goods or replacements on time, unless it was never intended to be delivered, and it would appear on the surface that it was a legit sale.

If you can find a car of similar spec and price, and the current dealership cannot deliver, I'd be asking for my money back and contract cancelled.

If you're not satisfied with the service, and probably with fair reason; let VW Australia know. They hold the dealerships bonuses on performance and satisfaction and they'll more than likely talk to the dealer.

Thanks guys. This is great support from you guys!! appreciated!

They did put down a "Stock Number" on the contract that I've signed. Does that help?

BG011... I'll give you a call during business hours! Thanks in advance!

They do have a 07 Demo with all the spec that I ordered, however it is more expensive than the one i ordered! I wonder if they will to give me further discount for that demo?? what's your thought?

EXACT same thing happened to me - ended up waiting another 3 weeks, luckily for me the same spec'd car was hitting the docks in Sydney a few days after I signed the contract (took another 3 weeks before I got it though).

                Waiting is such sweet agony

I would suggest contacting VW themselves and having a rant. Surely they could sort it out and the dealer in question will get into trouble over that one. That will hurt them more than just a lost sale.

Did they give you an estimated time for a new car to arrive?

I wouldn't touch a demo car if I could get a new one and if it's only a 3 week wait than I could hold out.

This seems really poor service that they not only dissed you on the original car but haven't made it clear when your car that you ordered (features + options) would be available, in place of the missing vehicle.

If the dealership can't help you out and give you a proper indication on the time involved, and if that time is not satisfactory i.e. original was to be delivered within a week and replacement will take two months. Then take further action, whether that's talking to a new dealer or VW Aus or both.

                      Doing the dirty

                      Guys,

In all fairness some dealers are rats and will screw people over at the drop of a hat.

But... Sometimes things that happen are completely out of the dealers control. Unfortunately the buck stops with the dealer and they cop all the mistakes that OTHER dealers make or that the actual parent company makes (ie. VWaustralia)

I work for Suzuki in newcastle... now with suzuki we have extended delays for cars like Swift (all variants) and SX4..

A dealer rung me the other week searching for a car, which i actually had. They asked if they could have it in return for a black base model manual swift.

                      I accepted the swap.

Next day i had a young lady come back who i had been dealing with and she wanted a black base model swift in manual. I thought fantastic, i have one comming.

I let her know the good news, and the wait would be minimal. I mentioned it would be roughly a week before the car would arrive from the other dealer.

Anyway, the car turns up from the other dealer, the ba.....ds sent me an OLD series 2 black manual 'S'model swift. Not the base model.

So can you guys see how this wasnt my fault?? Just as there may have been other factors which complicated the delivery of your new Volkswagen which were out of the dealers control

Fair enough to an extent, a very small extent, but in this day and age shouldn't there be a VIN database where you can see EXACTLY what the car is, and where it is, when it was made, and every single option on the car.

"Hey, I'll swap you VIN#123 for your VIN#125."

How the hell can you swap cars with the wrong description based on a phone call that's gone wrong. That's not an honest mistake, that's just completely nuts. Not entirely your fault but this is core business.

                          You guys are right

Easy enough for you to say..

                          We dont use VIN numbers.

We use DSN's or SIDO numbers.
                          I got the call,
Hey the regional manager said you have #93523 swift S silver manual.
Yep... i need a black base manual swift in return.
Yep i have one to give you, Sido is #92562

                          Excellent, thanks for that.

                          end of phone call.

It's always easier looking on the outside in. Still, it doesn't make much sense to me that there's no way of verifying hard data.

Whatever the Sido # is, there's still a lack of real communication.

The thing that gets me with this one is:
                            A. if the car was sold beforehand than how did they find out it was sold at a later date.
                            B. if the other dealers forgot to register the sale, surely it would have been that dealer who missed out.

Anyways, it's easier to criticise than contribute.
