Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Suspension options

    My front shocks need to be changed soon and was thinking of my options. Keeping in mind my car is under a third party warranty NWCO.
    1. Get new original shocks
    2. Get new non-standard shocks (will this affect warranty/insurance etc?)
    3. Get a totally new suspension/coilovers for slight lowering but hoping to maintain comfort somewhat. May go for new 18' wheels at the same time
    Lastly, anybody recommend where I can the shocks/suspension?

      Recommendations for coilovers that doesn't compromise comfort? How much do stock front shocks cost anyway as if they're expensive then will go with coilovers/aftermarket

        Then go buy these: HPA Motorsports Inc. - SHS Coilovers. Only a little bit firmer than stock but a thousand times better performing

          The most interesting part of the Whitejames reviews thread for me is the Koni FSD reviews.

          Have a good read.

            I run a set of Koni FSD's and Eiback Springs (also known as a "Prokit") Its well rounded and somewhat comfy, but if I had my time again I'd be chasing KWv3's or some other quality coilover setup. They give a very soft ride, even when lowered most of the way.

              That is a great read, very well put togeather with enough of a brain dump that you really feel like you understand his thinking and considered approach. Think I'll read all of his writeups, even if they don't directly apply to the little Polo

                Anybody used the eibach pro-system kit? The white james review is awesome btw. Great reference for all
