  • VW Golf valuation please 2.0 TDI Comfortline

I'm not sure if the forum is an appropriate site for sales-talk, but I am seeking advice re valuation of my motor ... a 2006 2.0 TDI Comfortline 135K; service just complete AND the car is in perfect condition for its age and kilometreage! I mean I have been fastidious about service, one 50 year-old driver [birthday present for myself, now 55!] owner, very measured and economical in driving. Vehicle was optioned with ESP, tinted windows and 6-stacker CD for my audio-books! I am keen to downsize to a ... guess ... POLO, so my wife can drive it as well ... she says this one is too torque'y [my words] and doesn't drive this car at all. I thought to ask $18000, but does anyone have recent experience?

Car Prices - Search Car Prices & Values Online - Red Book can give you rough prices for used values.

I've assumed its DSG, in which case redbook is:
    Redbook

It lists the private price range as: $16,400 - $18,700 however your kilometres are at the very high end for expected kms, so you may need to aim at the middle or lower range of that price bracket.

If it is a manual then the price range is $15,400 - $17,500, again with the same comment about kms.

      I think $18k is reasonable.

It shouldn't be too hard to sell at that price.
MKV Golf 2.0 TDI DSG Sportline. Just nice.

Thanks guys for the advice; I'll ask $18000 and accept a discount. Heh, what's about all the Polo TSI problems ... got me rethinking, as my Golf is so good, BUT five years-old. Is VW getting this 1.2 TSI wrong, or should I consider the TDI ... seems comparatively little or no mention of post-purchase mechanical problems with diesel. Looking in on the Polo page was scary!
