You guys can be so harsh sometimes . Starting a business that caters for a small amount of people is hard enough without negative opinions . I import stuff all the time from overseas and I found it so frustrating to have to pay money for a whole order only to find that the website says "in stock" when it actually isnt and having to sometimes wait months is a pain ! Start supporting local companies so that they can continue to grow and bulk purchase items to save on shipping and get reduced rates .

email: eurorevolution @ live.com.au (free email web based account)
website: http ://eurorevolution .webs.com/index.htm (free website hosting)
and
email: sales @ eurorevolution.com.au
website: http ://www .eurorevolution.com.au
The latter looks professional and could be hosted on a $10 a month web host (not that I would recommend that for a business - in the range $50-100 you have so many options with good uptime and support).
If it's a web based business all that people see is the website, first impressions are everything and you currently score pretty low. There are plenty of ecommerce platforms that are free/cheap like oscommerce, magento to name a few. Investing some money in getting someone experiences to set this up for you should cost a few thousand dollars but it'll pay for itself in a short period by handling your payments, tracking shipments and stock and so on.
Would you purchase from a website that looked like your current one? Serious question because I wouldn't no matter what you were selling or how good your prices are. Or even from a site that doesn't show live stock levels (which you mentioned as an issue you had purchasing from overseas)?
Anyway just my opinion....Last edited by Maverick; 31-03-2011, 02:10 PM.website: www.my-gti.com

Whilst I've never run an on-line operation, I do speak from experience — over half a century ago I set up a shoestring operation in a very competitive service industry into which the large multinationals were already making inroads. The premises (all I could afford — the day I opened for business I had enough cash behind me to keep it running for about ten days) were, to say the least of it, shocking and most of the plant was old and very secondhand, but the customers didn't see that.
They saw a neat delivery van with a polite, helpful and well turned out driver who arrived on time every time, provided a first-class product and could be relied upon to attend to their needs.
The industry establishment gave me three months to go broke and did its best to make the prediction come true — twenty-five years later I sold the business as a going concern and never needed to work again.
The new owners (who were very much profit-oriented (read get-rich-quick...)) reduced the frequency of service, cut corners in production, reduced staff and were gone in less than five years.
I've the greatest respect for anyone who has the get-up-and-go to give it a try, but you do need to do all your homework first and make sure everything looks (and runs) as it should.
My two cents.

Jmac in post #3 you said "give me a yell if you want to see one in the flesh all done". Does that car have an engine cover on it as well? Can you post a picture?
