Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Stuck between these eyelids - need opinions!!

    Hey guys,

Never thought i'd want or like the look of eyelids, but I think i'm set on getting a pair...

I've never seen one like the one on the right before! The left eyelid is quite generic but it still looks good. What do you guys think? By the way the quality of the carbon fibre is amazing! The stitching is consistent all the way to the edges, including the curves on the right eyelid. (These pictures were taken with the eyelids sticky taped on)

I'd go for the ones on the left. They look far more stylish and aggressive in my opinion.

Fair call. I meant that most of my mods are purely aesthetic, and not adding HP at all.

The one on the left are styled after the Kamei AG ones.

KAMEI develops roof boxes, roof racks and many other innovative accessory solutions for cars. Our mission: to make driving even more comfortable.

I've got a set off the orignals on my Pirelli -purchased off Dub Addiction when he sold them.

I feel they make the car more aggressive looking. IMO they look better on Halogen lights (which are inset) rather than Xenons (which bulge out).

And The ones you have on the right headlight are a bit too thin to be noticeable from a distance away.

                      Left ones are far better.

The right ones don't have the mean look to them like the left's do.

I don't blame those who say no to eyelids as I was in the same position until i saw them actually on my car. I agree that the ones on the right are really subtle and not very noticeable.. which is why I'm considering them in the first place! However, I do like the look of the ones on the left. As many of you have said, it does give a nice aggressive look

GTI's already have an aggressive look, eyelids finish the job nicely.

Thanks for the post as I was in the same dilemma , which of those two to buy. Good to see a visual of both because initially I was going to get the right as they seemed more subtle but they're actually so subtle that they're almost not even there. I'll definatelly go the left. Now I just have to decide Carbon Fibre or black to match the body colour.....
