  • GOLF GT turbo or engine problems!! help!!!

my car is 2007 model, some times i was driving the car 30-40mins ,the engine becomeing warms up , in this time like power cut out by someone, trubo does work and engine can't over 3000 rpm but if i just turn off the car a few hours everything is ok! if i driving again the problem coming again!!!this problem bothering me long time. I have beeen to the Preston Volkswagen Commercial Dealer in 04/2009 and 05/2010 and Essendon Volkswagen Dealer in 07/2009 in melbourne for checking this problem, but they did not find out anything wrong in my car. What they did was to update the computer in my car. However, this problem has not been settled so far. At that time, my car was still in the warranty period but nobody could find any reason to explain this problem. now my car out of warranty, anyone can help to fix this problem, and recommend some big mechanic to fix that .
    thanks so much.........

WOW, epic post. you sound very excited.

If the problem was reported while the car was in warranty & the dealerships were unable to fix it then warranty will still apply to the specific problem........ except you don't seem to have been very pesistant in visiting the dealer, so maybe you will be out of luck.

Borrow a VCDS cable from someone and do a scan of your ECU.
      And use another dealer.

I take it you guys have the twincharged 1.4L TSI ?

Few guys have been having problems with the N75 valve, that provides the changeover and operation of the supercharger / turbo, and if you do a bit of a search, you'll find recent posts about that.

            If it's a diesel, 3000 rpm is plenty.... : )

Hey! yeh its a twincharged 1.4

So if this problem is common, anyway i can get it fixed from VW even though its out of warranty?

How much would it cost to have it fixed?

                There's your answer.

If you brought this issue to the attention of the dealer whilst there was warranty remaining on your car then they're obliged to fix the issue, regardless of whether there's any warranty remaining currently. It should not cost you anything to have this fixed if indeed it's the original issue you reported.

If it was me, I would be going to the dealer and asking for a quote. Either way it needs to be fixed, driving without your turbo working is asking for further problems.

Find someone in your local area who has Vag Com and ask if you can get them to scan your car for the error codes. It will probably have some pertaining to the N75 valve. Also ask for the recommended VW specialist, who is usually both cheaper and more thorough than the local dealers. Get them to have a look. Get over to vwgolf.net and ask PaulOH, who is going through this issue currently and is one of my old GT mates from 2008, and perhaps drop Barneyboy a PM too, those guys know the 1.4 GT very well.

If your car is indeed GToms old GT, he's rarely on here any more....just like how I used to be on the Ford Forums, and if my old car is on there I'd have no idea anyone was asking questons about it, I've moved on to VW, so it's likely nothing personal, just a brand change.
