im almost done, basically what ive done is bought flexi prime ( a plastic primer) and etch primer, and 400,800 and 1200 grit sandpaper. its really simple to prep the surfaces yourself which will probably save you a good few hundred dollars at a shop. scrub plastics, flexi prime them 2 coats. etch prime them 3-4 coats. get sanding til smooth ( not near as hard as it sounds( took about an hour on a saturday)). add one more coat of primer, sand with 1200, ready for base coat.
the door moulds i pulled off the car to do, the lip was already primed, and the front black strips under the headlights i just masked off really well and did the above to them too. all up all the plastics are dead smooth. paint looks great on them and it definately doesnt look like a home job. everythings painted in base coat for me, and getting 2 pack clear coated this weekend.Scirocco R, APR 2+,VWR BBK,HP, QUAIFE, FORGE, VWR 18x9.
