2006 Golf V Rear Hatch handle badge stolen, any ideas ?

Hello all, in addition to a Touareg I have a little 2006 Golf V; Some SOB stole (with a screw driver) the rear VW Logo thats located on the tilting hatch handle. Its large, bigger than a drink coaster. Anyhow, went along to the dealer and was informed the badge is not available as a spare, one needs to purchase the ENTIER tilting hatch handle assembly. That will set you back around $350, then if you wanted it fitted (its no easy job) that will add around $150 in labour.

Any ideas if anyone makes just the badge ? I looked on Ebay (even bought) a rear hatch "badge", when i got it, it was crap, plastic and not the right fit (well, didnt fit at all).

Anyhow, I figured there muist be others who had it stolen, if any of you Golf experts have an idea I would appreciate hearing it.

The tragedy is that the little bugger/s probably only wanted it to hang on their bedroom wall.

The little good for nothings can't have one so they resent anyone who has worked hard for their wheels. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Thanks for the responses. The bage you see on Ebay is useless, it doesnt fit the rear hatch of a MkV Golf; I have bought one of these, its actually a crappy badge (quality wise) ala' Transporter style. If your interested, take a look at your Golf and you will see that the chrome VW logo at the rear is actually pressed onto the tilting hatch handle itself. It has dozens of small prongs on the back of the VW logo that are pressure stamped into the hatch handle. As such, thats whats going to make replacing it so difficult.

Folks, that rear VW badge on a Golf is worth $500, you have been warned......take care

Oh, I made a point of going to the police and reporting this. The sow sitting at the desk didnt want anything to do with it, however I insisted that this is criminal dammage and I want it reported and thus included in Police statistics. After she put down her cheesburger and dusted off the doghnut crumbs, she made out a report.
