Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MY08 Jetta TDI Stall?

    Hi guys

been a while between posts! I've had my MY08 TDI DSG Jetta for 18months now and absolutely loving it still. It has performed flawlessly the whole time except for this morning...

The wife rings me and said the car stalled as she was pulling into traffic from standstill. Thankfully she was pulling out of a parking spot that was on a slight angle so she just rolled back into the parking spot. She said it didn't splutter or anything, it was just like she turned the car off with the key. She put it back into park, it started no problems at all and off she drove.

Anyone else had this problem? Our nearest VW dealer is 85km away so I can't just pop down and get it checked easily?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks guys
    Tim

some cars car be a bit stally when cold if the oil gets low, something i've learned from company cars over the years as i don't really check the oil in them

hmmm just checked the oil two days ago - all good. Our car has never been stally when cold. In fact, I never had a car that was stally when cold.
Just hoping it was a one off "glitch"

      cheers

While internet diagnosis should be taken with a grain of salt, some cars have had iffy ignition switches in the past.

In all honesty, take it to the dealer, let them look at it, and even leave it with them for a few days to monitor.
