After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. is this something that can be retro fitted ?

    all the window socks for cars seem to fade and look crappy, i am also pretty sure that being on there the whole time at various speeds would be abrasive to the car and vw have the blind listed as an option for the mk6 on the website and was wondering if it can be fitted or was it fitted to the mk5

    You can buy this stuff from any signage shop as a vinyl sheet. You can then just cut it and apply to the glass like you would any tinting. Probably not what you are asking for but it would look the same and you could always remove it if starts to look daggy. Buses have heaps of these but they digitally print advertising on the reverse.

      i have these fitted to our tiguan. They can be fitted at anytime. All they are held in by are strategically positioned clips fitted (look to be glued in place ) to the inside of the window frame. They work well.
      I had those window sox things fitted to our jetta and they only lasted about 12 months before they started to come apart. Less time before they had faded to grey - I would not buy them again.
      Just spewin they dont have the window shades available for the jetta.

              I bought it through spare parts. You shouldn't have any trouble getting it (them) as I believe they are available for the MK VI.

              I'll see if i can find the part number, but you shouldn't need it. Ask for the rear door blinds, also available for the rear window.

                  A pain to fit. I'll reduce the instructions for you, with a part number.

                    Tips;

                    1. Use a right angle drill adapter to drill the holes, as it's a very tight fit.

                    2. For screwing the holder to the door, use the small jewlers screw driver that you buy at the cheap shops for $3-5. Again, very tight.

                    3. Get a friend to help, someone who is good with his hands building or assembling.

                        What about the rear window blind? Is it available as a spare part and does it require drilling as well to fit it? My Peugeot 406 had rear blinds as standard and I really would like them on the Jetta

                          As far as I know they are available, I'm sure I've seen it in a brouchure somewhere. I have the rear one on our Polo and I only had to drill 2 holes into the Parcel shelf.

                            I don't think too many other brands would have these side ones as an option.

                              Here is a pic of the two critical pieces of equipement. The right angle drill attachment allows you get into the corner much better. I think I paid around $20 from Bunnings.

                              The other is the jewelers screw drivers set. This once again allows you to get into the corner and apply the right amount of pressure to the screw.
