Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • GTi model query for insurance

    Hi,

First time posting here and I have a query.

About to buy a 5 door GTi today, described as :

    2008 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF V MY08 GTI DSG

On the rego papers it says Model : GOLF06B

When I got a cover-note with AAMI they had two descriptions of the car that I thought matched, once contained the term “Upgrade 1” and the other “Upgrade 2”.

Any idea how I find out which one relates to mine

    Thanks

I asked the same thing when I did the insurance for mine.

I don't think it makes a huge difference but according to Glass's Guide Upgrade 1 went from Aug 07 to Mar 08 and Upgrade 2 went from April 08 to Nov 08.

I am yet to find out what was upgraded.

    Oh, and welcome to VWWatercooled.

Don't hesitate to introduce yourself in the Newbies Corner.

Excellent, thanks for that. Can you give me the link to that info please ?

Picked the car up yesterday, absolutely loving it !!!

Only problem is getting the iPod to play, I'm pressing CD twice but no go ?? Anyway, I'll work it out.

      Cheers

Here is the link for the models list.

As for the iPod I run a cable from the iPod to the input in the centre console then play it using AUX. It's not ideal but works. If you have the media interface thingy installed then I can't help you.

          Great, thanks for that

I've got the cable that plugs into the back of the unit. I ended up just taking out all the CD's and it works now. Going to get the full sat-nav unit soon anyway so no big deal.

          Cheers
