  • Jetta TDI with bluefin from superchips

    Hey guys,

Just a quick post to tell you all, how good the Bluefin From superchips are.

It just arrived today from the UK. total was $1267.09 inc bank fees and shipping.

It feels very good to drive, so much more power than stock!!

My only problem is i did not understand how it worked and was disappointed when i got it. I thought from all the documentation i have read and their website about this chip. I thought it was plug and play. I.e just plug it in and 15mins latter you are driving a new car!!

In reality its a bit different. when you get the bluefin you have to plug it into the car and download the Rom / computer setting to the bluefin device and then use their software to sent it to them over the internet. then wait up to 10 hours to get the modified setting back via their software then plug it back into the car for the flash.

Its not to bad i guess but i was telling all the guys at work how cool it was and we were all going to do this afternoon but this could not happen.

But to my surprise when i got home (one hour latter) i had an email from them telling me it was done and i could download it when i was ready. needless to say i was ready!!!

And wow i just got back from my first drive 1hr ago.... Even my girlfriend thinks "it rocks" in her words!!

So over all it was just me wanting to much. but i tell you what i would recommend it to anybody how is driving a TDI!!!

Anyway guys have a good one!!

    Thanks for sharing.

You can buy them from an Australian supplier, and I think that the price difference is negligible.

    Cheers.

I've had a Bluefin for my '07 Golf GTI for a couple of months now, and it really is fantastic. Got 151.5kW atw at a recent dyno day with no other mods, and am over the moon. Best chip solution out there IMO.

      Cheers

Bluefin chip for a TDI from Aussie supplier is $1499.00. Looks like you bought well at $1261.09.....saved an impressive 19%.

Thinking about doing the same myself.

        Cheers

If I were supplying them in Aust, I would be having words about selling into this market. That aside, I would consider this as an option....

Just thought I would let you all know why I got the bluefin over other flashes/ chips

I live in cairns and with nobody up here who does this kind of work, and having no support as such. I thought the bluefin was the best solution as i can remove the flash if i need to take it back to the dealer for what ever reason. and have a ability to flash it back again when i want. most chipping/ flashing places will do this for free but the distances i would need to travel for this would make it impossible.

Good point re support. Ironic that a UK based manufacturer can give remote support to a Aussie install. That's the best part about this Bluefin program, doesn't matter who or where you buy it from, you still have to email your original program back to UK site for them to reload your new one back to you. As long as you have internet access , you have their immediate support anywhere in the world. I like that concept.

              Good choice

              Cheers

You could try the Steinbauer Chip, It's about $1300. They only do diesels.

Has anyone installed one of these, and with what results?

With the Bluefin, if the dealer reflashes your ECU I think you have to go through the whole thing with Bluefin again, as the code has to be updated to work with the new settings. But still heaps better than going back to the dealer to have the map reinstalled.

Red may be the devils colour, but this car is pure heaven

Just wondering.. with these Bluefins.. are they 1 unit to 1 car?
Or could someone potentially use the same unit to do multiple cars?
(not getitng any ideas or anything lol)

They are linked to your VIN I'd imagine. Also, as I can check the flash counter with my laptop and Vag-com, and it's obvious if a car has been flashed, has Bluefin solved the flash counter problem?

Yah it doesn't update the flash count.

1 unit = 1 car but you can get the unit reset for a fee if you change cars.

Dollar must have been crappo when the OP bought his. Mine was $667 in Oct last year. JKM Motorsports in the UK.
