Cruise Control switch not working Intermittently - Jetta MY07 103TDi

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has have issues with Cruise Control switch not switching the cruise control on. This is the on/off switch on the lever. I can not work out when the on/off switch will work or not. I just bought this Jetta a couple of weeks ago and still have 2 months warranty on it. But didnt want to just take it in and the tech to come back and tell me it worked for him.

Inititally I just left it on but then the indicator light stopped coming on so I started to monitor it every time I drive and it doesnt seem to have a pattern of when it will work and when not.

Anyone else have similar or same experience?

Hi the todle switch is only to reset the cruise,did you click the switch on the end of the indicator stork?

Assuming that you have actually "set" the cruise control and not just switched the rocker switch on as Ian asks, then you probably have a fault with the cruise control stalk. This is a known problem with the MK5.

I had the whole stalk replaced under warranty 6 months ago. I would be driving along with cruise activated and then it would drop out all of a sudden and the dash light would go off too. So if this is your experience, take it to the dealer because it will be covered under warranty and it's about $350 to replace without warranty.

thx guys....exactly what I wanted to hear cause this fault is even before I get to set the cruise control on. the on/off switch on the stalk does not activate the cruise control to on ie no indicator light in dash.

i will take it back to dealer and tell them to replace the entire stalk. i just bought it from a Ford dealer so just wanted to get the facts before going back and forth to guys who are not familiar with it. And who has given me 3 months new warranty.
