Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Found myself a nice Mk5 Golf GTi!!!

Hey all, I recently bought my second VW in the form of a 2006 Golf GTi.

Here's a link to the car as it was advertised...
2006 MK V GTI - Low kms, candy white, manual, APR'd

It's almost exactly what I was looking for colour and features wise, minus perhaps sat-nav. REALLY looking forward to getting behind the wheel, even more so considering the mods it has. I think if I had gone for a stock example, I'd have only bothered with an APR ECU re-map, purely due to the cost of the exhaust and intake.

Maybe i'm clueless, but I think I got a pretty good deal.

    James.

Well done mate... I just bought a 2007 GTI a few months ago.. i wanted 3 door variant.. i got leather, sunroof, sat nav, bi xenon lights, reverse sensors and mine had $65k for $28700

I was happy with th eprice i paid, the service history was top notch and the car was well looked after.

Sounds like a good buy Dizzy, more features than mine! I wanted to shy away from leather, I had a Polo GTi with leather and it was such poor quality... Do you have pics?

I pick it up tomorrow gh, I will definitely update asap.

Nathan, the low k's were definitely a huge draw. And the fact there has been $5,000-$6,000 spent at APR. And none of the mods are what I would consider pointless. Form follows function.

What sort of output should I expect from the car, because the 188kW (claimed by APR for stage 1 re-map) would surely have been improved upon in this case, no?
