  • Soon to buy

    Hi everyone,
I've been getting a heap of info from this forum which has been great and led to me to this car which I'm looking at picking up this weekend.
    2008 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI V MY08 Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au
It ticks all the boxes for me, still within 3 yr warranty, low km's, 2dr, silver, manual and leather.
I am looking at extending the warranty with vw, not sure how to go about it yet.
Also, what do you think of the price? It's within my budget, but I should be able to bring them down a little as rego expires soon (2 months) as does the factory warranty.
Anything else I should look out for? and FYI its from Motor Emporium on Parramatta Rd Sydney.

That price doesn't include stamp duty, but you should be able to do a deal and include it in the price ,good luck

Looks good if a bit on the expensive side.

I'd run a REVS and vehicle history check first - esp since it is being sold by a motor dealer on Parramatta rd. It could have been written off before.

        Missed that one.

I'm coming from Canberra so I'll have to negotiate over the phone first. I haven't had to negotiate for a car before, are there any tips or things I should bargain with to get the price down? I was going to use the fact that I'm coming all the way to buy, the fact rego that is almost up (and will cost at least $1000), and the warranty is almost up to (although they do have a 3 month warranty), and I haven't asked about the tyres but if they haven't been changed since new should they be now? and When is the next service? 45K km?
Are these the types of things I should be asking about, and am I taking the right approach?

        Cheers.

          True,
Not sure how to run a REVS check though. Although I think who I'm getting the finance with will do there own, so I'll confirm with them tomorrow. I did look at the RTA website and it came up with nothing out of the ordinary, but I don't know if it would have told me anything either way other than that the number plate matches the car and VIN.

The dealer seems fairly legit, they are selling a Koeinieingignisseggsegg....

When buying from a licensed dealer previous car title debts are entirely the responsibility of the dealer, likewise if it has ever been written off in NSW (they don't have to check other states - If it was written off in QLD, it won't show here) the dealer has to tell you.

You CAN do one yourself if you really like (they are cheap to get the certificate), but given you want to probably reregister the car in the ACT, it may be a good idea in case a history comes up when you go to xfer it!

+1 .. As you are not from the area i will give you a heads up, Parramatta rd is full of dodgy car yards, im not saying every yard is dodgy but be especially careful. I have had a few bad experiences with Parra rd sales yards and personally I wouldn't even trust them with my phone number let alone a car purchase.
