      hmm well called up vicroads, they have received my letter, but wouldnt reply straight away. Told me it would be about 2+ weeks til i get a response in writing. Now i play the waiting game...

            I know this is late, but I might as well post it.
            Vicroads has an individual car search for P platers: VicRoads Probationary Approved Cars
            If you're still looking, it has a few funny "Approved Cars" ie/ the mk5 R32 (Aspirated) all the way upto 2010 is legal. And some of the non-diesel turbos also are (FSIs I think). Some of the GTIs don't even say Banned, just "Application Required."
            The search is probably anyone's best bet.
            I look at my V-Dub, and all I can think is....."Dat Ass....."
