  • Leather interior = heated seats ??

Are there any MkV owners out there who have leather seats in their MkV and DON'T have the heated seats ?
I was under the impression that all the MkVs with leather have heated eats.
There is a set of leather seats in the for sale section ( by Oli - decent fella by all accounts ) but they don't have the heated seats option.

Damn pity because living in Tassie the heated seats would be a real good thing on cold days.

    No Bumwarmers?

Like you I was under the impression that all Mk 5's with leather had heating. I've just looked at the Jetta, GTI and Golf brochures and all list leather with heating, can't see any reference to leather without heating. Maybe I'm about to be further educated again!

Have to say the heating is a blessing at this time of year, guess it would be doubly so in Tassie.

    Cheers

My MK4 GTI has heated leather seats OEM.
My Vectra CDXi has heated leather seats OEM.

I guess what I am trying to say is that most European cars tha come standard with Leather have heated seats.

The actual heating pads are within the seats foam / cushion, if you are just getting leather seat covers; then they would not be heated.

      I hope this makes sense?

You would need more than the seat to bring this functionality in, like the switches on the console.

Our GTI has the heated leather seats, and they kept my butt warm on the drive home just now.

                Leather seats do work

I didnt think the leather seat thing was going to be any big deal but the current cold snaps in Sydney chenged my mind, they work well before the engine warms very comfy.
from the info from the dealer and brochure all leather Jetta's have heating

                cheers

Isn't that wiring loom under the seat the one used for the heating?
You'd need the pads and the switches, but at least the wiring's all there.

The heated leather seats are ONLY in the factory fitted seats - if you want anything fancy like coloured inserts or dealer fitted leather, the heating is NOT an option... the seats you are looking at are therefore likely to be post-factory fitted and also are unlikely to be able to be fitted to your loom even if they were heated in the original car as your car would not have appropriate switching etc...

Gotta say that IS a pity because, even here in Brisbane, the heated seats are brilliant - keep the cabin cool but your butt warm - nice on a sore back at the end of the day too!
