Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2006 auto service question

    Gidday,

After only stumbling on this forum a couple of days ago, and the owner of a 06 Golf auto 1.9tdi (90,000kms), I have been reading with interest all through the "transporter" section as I will be purchasing one in the coming months for work and one thing that I pricked up my ears about is the thread on "auto's" cooking their oil and the non servicing of them which then leads to stuffing up the auto around 100,000kms.....Interesting!!

Could the same thing happen to our Golf, my wife has gone off to work in it so I cannot look up the service book until tonight, but do they get serviced (auto) or not and what is the recommended interval, as being a fussy prick with my cars I cannot recall the auto being done by my mechanic but I might be wrong until I see the book.

Could someone list the correct or recommended intervals of the auto oil, belts, & other major items if it has not already been listed on this site but I could not find anything, sorry.....

I think you are referring to the service interval for the DSG, which is 60,000kms.

Here is some servicing info. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f86/...ost-52539.html and there is more threads about servicing in Skoda section. Octavia TDI servicing parts are identical to Golf TDI incl. DSG take it only as a guide.
