Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Turbo failed

    G'day all,
    The turbo on my MkV 1.9 failed last sat. I just had the 75k service done. Will be off the road till next week a/c nil stock. I suggested they get a bigger aftermarket but alas, no.

    I havn't heard of any failing till mine. Apparently, sometimes things just die. They said they won't analyse to see why.
    anybody heard of any others failing?

    Wow a diesel turbo failure? That's pretty unheard of in an unmodified car?
    I hope they fixed under warranty no questions asked.
    I'm sorry to hear of your pain mate..Hope it's fixed soon.

      Oh, you learn something new everyday..
      I thought the car would still be driveable .. albeit very slowly.. or does the car not go without the whooosh..

        The car is covered by warranty. It still went, very slowly and picked up speed on the back of the truck. Still a great car, and I'd buy another.

          These things happen and you've got the warranty to take car of the car.
