Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      2. Unless someone here tells me not to, I am going with Javelin repair near Rozelle- the guy has quoted $990
So, cost will $1000 bucks plus whatever I lose in the resell (which I will declare as a RWOV).

      3. I do think that the guy who sold it to me was the same guy who had the repair done. I spoke to a lawyer friend (but not an expert in this area) who said that I could start a civil case but it would be fairly costly especially if he was not willing to settle out of court. Think I am just going to cut my losses.

      4. I saw someone saying that I could not get more than $30k for it- that surprises me As this one is hail damaged, not accident
      5. Does anyone have any more thoughts on pricing???

      1. Rust must be coming from the top and was probably just a dodgy repair.

      2. Sounds like a good price and the proper way to go forward.

      3. That sucks. I repaired and sold a golf last year but I did declare it both in the ad and in person.
Thought that that would be the case re a civil lawsuit.

      4. Hail damage is different to accident damage but people don't want any kind of damage repaired. I guess because you never know for certain how it was repaired.

      5. With the pricing, just ask what you think is fair and take it from there. You never know.

Do you really want to sell the car. I mean why not keep it, since the rust issue will be fixed?

I agree with speed, the car is only cosmetically wrote off. As long as they do a good job of repairing it then there shouldnt be any on going problems. In fact the longer you keep it the less money your likely to lose on the resale.

          1) Thats sexy car
          2) I have been ripped off and lost my savings

It sucks but I am gonna get shot

see if you can get pictures of the repair process it's gone through (so back to metal, primed and painted, etc) so when it do you sell and disclose the write off, you can hold hand on heart that you've made every attempt to make it the best/longest term fix possible.

Get it done than go for a belt around the mountains or your favourite road loop, let us you know if you're smiling. That's what cars are all about.
