  • MKV 2.0L TDI Intercooler pipe blown off!

    Hey Guys,

I have a small problem that i am having some dramas fixing!

The intercooler pipe has blown off it is connected properly at the throttle body its the next clip down that is giving me hassles its super tight in there between the thermo fans and the clip

Can anyone advise me how to get this clip to stay on? Do you need to get at it from the bottom or somthing? I cant take the drip tray of as i do not have the correct tools to remove the fasteners

I may not be holding my mouth right...

Having heaps of trouble! Any advice appreciated

    Cheers,
    Dan

You can use the insulating or rubber self fusing tape around the clip.

      Hi Dan,

Mate these are a simple clip in fitting, and the C clip of wire has two flat sides that poke through two slots on the housing. This makes up the female part. The male part, on the hose itself, has two small barbs that click into place past these two wire clips, and it will be an audiable click. I suspect one of the wires has popped out of it's slot, and this the connection isn't holding boost. Also, if the wire clip gets any sort of rounded edge, they tend to pop off easily, and you will either need to get a new clip, or reverse the one you have, although it won't sit properly on the ends. They often take a mighty push to get them to click in, perhaps eat some spinach!

Heres the female part showing the clip moved back out of the slots. That clip is vital.

Here is the end showing the prongs - the one with the hose attached is stock.

Awesome thanks guys I have undone and re clipped the top one with success countless times not but the bottom one is still giving me grief! I will try reversing the clip as it may be rounded and give that a go!

Ii have given it some stink I was a little worried i would break somthing pushing down too hard

let you know how i go

Spin it around 180 degrees (flip it) if it has come off completely & it's on backward, it wont hold 100%

Thanks for the help guys it turned out it was the rubber gasket!

It has slipped out of the groove and gone up against the top prohibiting it clicking the whole way in! Felt really stupid once I realize what it was because I reckon I must have looked at it 100 times and not noticed!

            Cheers
