I am thinking of getting a 2008 Golf GT Sport.. about 85,000ks on the clock. About $20ish k
Anything I should look out for?
You'll need to give us a bit more information before we can comment.
Is it a manual transmission or DSG? TDI or TSI?
Any options?
What colour?
being 08, I take it is still under warranty...if unsure please check with seller.
Im guessing for 20ish it will be a tsi ,the gt tdi's are still fetching high 20s.

There is one TDI listed for 23000 but its in Cairns, 95000km and is filthy red colour. I have seen one other TDI listed for about that with 60000km on it but it must be sold now. I picked mine up for 23,500 with 69000 on it.

And I'm pretty sure the seller is a member of this forum.
My advice is buy a car that has done some highway / country miles if it's a diesel. They don't like city driving generally. If it's a TSI, make sure it's been VW serviced and has had all the ECU updates etc, they had some issues early on but VW sorted it out with programming upgrades, amongst other things....

that was a good buy, what colour is yours? dsg or man? Im personally not a big fan of red either, yet its so popular on mkv's.
the tornado red has grown on me (only just recently after looking at them on the road for 5+ years!). never used to like it. i see one near my place which is always spotless - looks nice.
red is like black- looks great when immac. crap when dirty.

Red cars look nice when when new or well maintained but as a colour it fades easily and is a bitch to match if you need to do a respray of a single panel - even for experienced spray painters.
A friend of mine has a TR GTI with a faded bonnet (probably due to heat). He had to get all the front two qtr panels painted as well to blend it in. This was because the right qtr panel was more faded than the left. After painting to match the three front panels, they are now slightly darker than the rest of the car.

yeah-- i think paint has come a long way recently. but the aussie sun is a real whopper.
not sure about paint fade on my United Grey.. but i am really happy with the colour. still looks freshly washed after weeks of dust and crud on the car.. it's an amazing colour for looking good when dirty. not too hot in heat like black (my last golf was black).
anyway... back to the OP--> have you mentioned if it is a TDI or TSI, DSG yet?

I agree, I love the united grey golfs. They are rare in the GTI's but look great, as they arent boring like silver yet still are low maitanance.
