What do you mean by door mould?

From memory the textured plastics require a good sanding down as they are dimpled and the paint will not attach properly if you don't prep them well first.
Also as it is plastic the paint may not look exactly the same colour as the bodywork, however you have to be quite close up to notice this from what i have read.

Any auto painter should be able to do it.
You might want to tell them that it has to be snaded down until it is smooth though.

I had a devil of a time trying to find someone to actually do the job. Too much like hard work for most places. The job ended up not as good as I would have liked, but, I guess beggars can't be choosers. Cost was about $1,300.00 but that included fitting some carbon fibre stuff.

Don't some golfs come colour coded? If they do you can probably buy the plastics prepared and undercoated ready for colour.

If you want the finish to last this is the way to do it! It means additional expense to buy the parts but it'll be cheaper to paint as it is already prepped.

There's a second way to paint the textured plastics - first a primer is sprayed to key into the plastic, then a filler undercoat is applied and sanded, then the whole lot is painted. This is how mine were done and I'm very happy with the result.

It's a bit like a Ford/Holden debate - you'll always get two points of view. Best to find a crashy whom you like and be guided by them.

I found the more reputable panel shops of Brisbane reject me completely saying "it can't be done". Toowong Smash Repair said they would gladly do it but they went about 7' under in last week's floods so I've taken my parts to a store on the Gold Coast recommended by a mate who just got a wide body S15 made there.

Will post the results when I get the parts back next week - hopefully good! (front lip, side skirts, rear valance and boot lip)

They're sanding back and painting the skirts and rear valance, and only painting the front lip and boot lip. They're also drilling a few holes for parking sensors and painting the GTI strip to match the body and in total it will cost me $650... And I'm fitting it myself when I'm ready.
