Bought a car, but only got 1 key

I called VW and they have quoted me almost $600 for the extra key!
Did some searching/reading on here, and feel encouraged to buy one from ebay (between $10 and $100). Are the ebay keys good enough? Are the $100 ones better than the $10 ones? Will VW be prepared to "code" an obviously fake key, and will a locksmith/Minit do the cutting for me?

Worried about cutting corners, but not keen to pay $600 for a spare key. The previous owner told me it'd cost me $100 to get another. Stupid = Bummed.

I was looking at the eBay keys, as I thought I had lost my 2nd key, which I managed to find. From searching the threads, depending on which eBay key you go for, you're up for $100-200 by the time you have the key cut, and then, from memory, you possibly need to have both keys re-programmed at a VW dealership?

Its not cheap, but it beats $600. Good luck
