  • Mk5 for sale.... opinions?

I'm currently looking around at Mk5 GTIs to change up from my Mk2. Needing something with more comfort and pace.

Looked around and found this one. Great colour (seems rare enough) and seems to be quite tidy. It'll take something perfect to part me from my Mk2 though. Any opinions would be great!

Very high KM's but a great price. I just sold my DSG GTI with 38k with options for 34k so if it is clean and has service history i'd go for it. Make sure you get the extended 3yr warranty for piece of mind.

    Good Luck with it!

With kms that high I'd guess that most of it was highway or country kms.

Which to me is better than a car that has only done short journeys around the city with half the kms
      Audi S3. Sold
      Golf R. Sold
      Citroen DS3 Dsport. Sold
      2016 Skoda Octavia RS Wagon.

Love the colour, but that is over priced for those kms.. 120k! thats 60k a year, crazy kms for a 2008. I dont doubt the car will last but you have to think about resale when you go to sell it even after a few years it will have close to 200k and no one would touch it.

I know you dont live in Adelaide but this is way better value IMO.

I have bought and driven many cars in my time and I have to say that "in general" used cars in Adelaide tend to be in better cond than in the eastern states. Main reason is due to the lack of traffic here compared to eastern states and the roads are in good cond. Eg a car in sydney may have only 50k on the clock but how many hours has it spent crawling along in traffic? More traffic and more ground to cover (bigger city) = more wear and tear. Also people in Adelaide are more conservative and are less likely to mod a $40k european car or any car for that matter. I notice this every time I go to Melbourne or Sydney, the amount of newer high end cars that have been modded with aftermarket wheels and exhausts, you just don't see that much here.

I'm not saying that people over there don't look after their cars, just in general its a numbers game when you buy 2nd hand. Eg I bought my R32 with 30k on the clock it was immaculate completely original and had been garaged its whole life. I paid $38k for it over a year ago!

Thanks for the comments guys! I appreciate it!

The KMs are a big turn-off alright... I'll hold out till something right comes along.

Even though I drive a red Mk2, I'm not a big fan of the Mk5 in red. Although I take your point about city driving vs rural. I'll travel wherever I need to in order to get the right car.

            I'll keep on looking!

            Thanks again.

Like others have said. That is really high kays. Our 2006 Jetta FSI (GTI Golf with a boot) was purchased for 22k with 58,000km. Keep looking around and something will come up. That dealership is kidding themselves with that price. Good luck.
