  • Airbag Warning Indicator

Hi all, having removed front seats to give a good cleaning after some dirt road travel the ignition was turned on causing the airbag warning. Rang dealer and they want $148 to reset warning.
Question is, will airbags still work and if not do I have any other options.Seems a lot to pay for resetting a sensor. Thanks

The airbags should still work normally, provided you properly reconnected anything you disconnected — it can be a bad idea to turn the ignition on whilst you have things like that out.

If you can find some-one in your area with a Ross-Tech cable, resetting the warning shouldn't cost you much more than a beer.

Thanks Idle, can these cables be sourced in australia or only direct from US, I see that the one for my Jetta would be about $350 + shipping and it seems like a good investment to me.

        VCDS (VAG-COM) License with HEX-USB+CAN Interface - $395.00 : Dub Ad·dic·tion [duhb uh-dik-shuhn]

His price is $395 and it's drop-shipped from US — he doesn't carry stock.

I take it your Jetta is pre-Canbus?

If it's Mk V or later the $249 MicroCan will suffice.

I have contacted Dubaddiction and am awaiting stock arrival of the MicroCan as my Jetta is an 03/2010 Mk V (an assumption-- the model not the year)

No need to make an assumption:

you can buy the cheap vscanner if all you want to do is "reset" codes. $148 to reset the code is daylight robery for something that literally takes 8 seconds to do.
