  • I Love My Car

Had the misfortune of driving a brand new Holden Caprice today. I must say by looks alone I was quite excited to get in and have a drive, my colleague who bought it was very chuffed about his new expensive toy. Inside the finish is quite good and comfortable to sit in, not just your standard Commodore. As for the drive............what a piece of crap. Seriously how can they justify the $70k price tag on this? Just for starters the NVH for a luxury car is un-acceptable. The motor sounds like an angry old man, the kickback is pathetic, the transmission is all over the place, never question the DSG again. How do Holden get away with it? What is wrong with people in this country, have they never even driven a real car before. It's like driving a leather couch with wheels. He tried to tell me that the suspension was "sport tuned" holy crap, the steering response was so vague that you turn the wheel, make yourself a cup of tea and come back just in time to make the turn. And as far as responsiveness goes well there just isn't any. It's a bouncy, slow, horrible noisy POS!

I had to drive mine again just to get back to reality. I think its possible that I own the best car in the world. Tight, responsive, blistering off the mark, instant kickback, sensational sound, awesome GPS with HDD, brilliant finish, seats which actually hold you in place as you go around corners, looks tits, what else could you buy for $40k that drives and looks like this car?

    Nothing. VW, you rock.

      lol

Whilst I don't disagree with the NVH and finish quality, I know who I'd be betting will have the last laugh with reliability and servicing costs

I'm with you thezone32. Nothing I drive now is close to the R32.

I drive various vehicles at work and I am always at a loss as to why so many Australians prefer the Commodore to the Falcon. In the base models the Commodre is way behind in just about every way.

I love my R32. And beer

ok yes your pirelli may be tunable for more kw(ATFW!) but I know that by the time yours comes on boost Ill already be way ahead

Anyway my point here is that even though I have significantly modified my suspension and ride, the NVH and smoothness overall of my car trumps holdens "Luxury" car by miles.

That would involve me driving to Melbourne which I really couldn't be bothered doing (Not that I dont like Melbourne).

And anyway even if your car did drag me off (which I'm sure it wouldnt) I would still have the best car in the world cos its cool.

Maybe for the first 20-30m . What feels/sounds fast isn't always.

Anyway i can't see myself ever buying a Holden Commondore so doesn't really matter, VW's are good.

The holden caprice isnt a sports car? Who would have thought.. Isnt it designed to be a leather couch on wheels? Sounds like they got it right to me.

Did you tell your colleague that you thought his car was a POS?

                        Different strokes for different blokes

                        - my neighbour has a stock 377kw R8 as much as it looks like a taxi from the inside, it still sounds and goes like a cut snake (in a stright line lol)
