  • leaking boot mkV GTI

I have water finding its way into the boot ... into the spare tyre well specifically. Its not a hug amount of water, but enough to be a concern, and carpets are getting damp. My passenger side tail light is also fogging inside... probably related.

Anyone know where I should focus my attention? Any easy way to diagnose exactly where the leak is?

      no sunroof.

i've read elsewhere that behind the back bumper, under the trim, there's some sort of a vent which can crack and allow water in ... ?

Resurrecting an old thread, but just for records.

Mine has the same issue. The VW Specialists thought it was the rubber hose connections at the top of the hatch mechanism that allows the electrics to the lights/latch. Silicon sealed those, still leaked. (Despite fixing other cars with the same issue)

It was the VW logo latch that was the source. Water would hit the rear wiper, drop to the badge, enter the hatch, come out the latch, into the rear bumper area, and into the spare wheel well.

Anyone know how to get a replacement car jack? Mine is rusted...
