I installed a MK VI GTI steering wheel (with paddles) on my 2009 Jetta Turbo a few months ago, worked perfect. I needed a updated control module for it to work, and had to use VCDS to enable the steering wheel with paddle option. From the research I have read if your car didn't have MFSW you would need a new control module, else the R32 steering wheel will work on the Jetta as long as you use VCDS to change the paddle shift option.

I forgot to mention that I didn't get any fault codes. The only thing that came up was the ESP light and Steering wheel light which was corrected by pressing the ESP button. For the steering wheel light fix it was a matter of turning full lock left then back to center then full lock right.

Interesting you say that vspec2. So did you original steering wheel look the same as the MkVI GTI wheel or did it look similar to the MkV wheel. What I mean is, did your buttons look like the ones in the link above or did they look like the new wheel you installed. I am just put off by the fact that two VW dealerships couldn't work out how to code it!! That is what I am scared of, as well as throwing money down the drain if it won't work. As mentioned, the only difference between the two wheels I'm dealing with is the physical shape, and the addition of the DSG paddles. All the other buttons are exactly the same.

Ps. How much did the new module cost you?

Its a MKVI GTI steering so the buttons are different so I needed an updated steering wheel module. In your case however the MKV R32 steering wheel has the same buttons so does not require a steering wheel module (99.9% sure). If you where in Canberra I could VCDS your steering wheel for you.

The module cost me $150US

Is your Jetta a Turbo? The only thing I can think of if its not turbo it runs the Tiptronic Auto so might have a different steering wheel module (but unlikely)

Yeah mate, it is the turbo. I have only been put off because two dealerships couldn't do it. If there was someone on Brisbane that could tell me that they have done it, then I would consider it. The other option I have been toying with is installing the RCD510 stereo. I can get one for $350 but I need to purchase a new can bus due to the power drain issue. I am not sure which one I need to purchase. Again, I will need to get someone to code it in, I think. As far as I can attain, there is noone up here in Brissie that has the VAGCOM program except for Jmac whom I have tried to contact but I think is on holidays.

Ok let me know as I can step you through the VAGOM bit, very straight forward not sure why the service guys are having issues. My bro lives on the Goldcoast next time I'm up there I can bring my laptop, and others bits and help you install it if you like.
