Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • "TECH NOTICED STRANGE GEAR SHIFT ON ROAD TEST" on 30,000 ks service

Next line on my new this year 1.6TDI Jetta with DSG reads
    "CARRIED OUT SOFTWARE UPDATE"
Well. What a difference. Gear changes at points about halfway between my old "D" and "S".
Keeps her on the boil (in D ) for normal type driving (between 1550 and 2250) instead of waiting for around 1200 before changing down and hardly ever seeing above 2000.
Also got rid of annoying non driver's input to throttle when encountering slopes.

Point I'm making is this SOFTWARE UPDATE was missed at pre delivery and on the 15000 k service (I'm assuming it was in fact issued at that time)
So guys, anyone with similar problems; maybe go look for an "Update"

Reminds me when in a past life I was working flying for a no expenses spared international airline. They bought a multimillion dollar simulator for use as a training tool for their Boeing airliner. It was awful to fly as compaed to the real thing, especially the handling with 1 engine out. We were told to grin and bear it. "If you can manage this simulator it makes the aircraft easy to fly."
So we did. Then 1 day about 6 months later a tech noticed the software had the Douglas handling program in it........
Thnaks to God for those techs who carry out program updates.
Happy New Year . I know mine will be now when I go driving in my baby Jetta.

Update was probably not available at 1,500km, 15,000km service nor do the Tech's go looking for the Updates it was probably just a known issue that they have come across before and knew that this update would fix the issue they felt????
