  • Bonnet noise deadening carpet

    Hi guys,

I am a noob and hope you guys can help me. I recently bought a VW Golf Mk5. I've noticed that under the bonnet, the engine carpet is falling. Its currently held by plastic screws, and what appears to be glue, however the glue is giving way and when the bonnet is lifted it falls out of the juts. While it doesn't completely come off as the plastic screws hold it in place, it does look untidy.

Firstly, can someone tell me its official name ? Secondly what the best way to re-secure it?

    Thanks in advance

Oh, and hope everyone is having a great Xmas.

It seems to be a common problem - a friend of mine has exactly the same issue. A replacement engine insulation piece is about $130.
It should be held in place with clips though.

      Thanks Triode12, much appreciated.

I noticed in my log book, it was apparently fixed 11 months ago at the dealership as part of a service. I wonder if its still covered under warranty? I'll call the dealership and find out, otherwise I could be up for $130.

      Cheers
