  • Performance Mod after ECU reflash

    Hello,

After getting my ECU reflashed by DNA Tuning... read here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f15/...gti-52658.html

What is the next mod to consider to getting the most power per dollar?

Would it be the down pipe or cat back, or both?

Too be honest, I'm not too keen on having a loud exhaust and happy to keep the stock exhaust.

There is significant/noticable power increases from a down pipe alone (with the stock exhaust)?

I don't plan to do any other engine mods due to the laws of diminishing returns.

Intake and downpipe and then handling mods/weight reduction.

Definantly a turbo back exhaust is the way to go i left that to last but it was a very noticeable gain and the note is awesome. If u go a good quality system it shouldnt be overly loud.i went a full milltek turbo back non resonated system and its not loud it just gives u a growl and makes your car sound like it should! Then for sure get rid of that restrictive airbox setup and go an intake pipe. I went neuspeed as it was easy to fit and once that is on get ready to listen to your turbo spool up. Goodluck

A flowing exhaust does not have to be loud, 90% of the power gain is the down pipe too. Also go a fuel pump for a ton more torque.

Performance = DP and intake. Im not worrying about the catback as its just noise and Id rather remain under the radar.

suspension antilift kit, sways, lighter wheels and then if your really keen go for the fuelpump.

the 2871/28RS/3071 option will run you about 10k, and then u still have the fueling issues on a MKV.

You'll be surprised at the noise from just a downpipe isaw.. Shiny's was a lot louder than my resonated milltek tbe exhaust with just a dp to stock catback.

              I'd go intake before downpipe.

The downpipe and stock rear section of exhaust is pretty quiet, the noise is when under full load which IMHO aint much. When grabbing an intake consider what is legal, you would hate to have a massive insurance claim go under due to a simple thing like an exposed pod filter giving the insurance company a way out of paying up.

Downpipe and intake will be cost effective and should yield roughly 12 kw@wheels and a fat increase in torque and response.
