I believe Milltek and other respectable tuners have spent a considerable amount of time/cash on R&D and have manufactored proven performance systems (not to mention the sound..) - i never drove the car in manual mode (DSG) prior to doing the exhaust as i couldnt hear/feel the car - now its the only way i drive it!

I will post up pics of our stock system and you will see the limitations it has compered to the freeflowing cat back i replaced it with

Hi Nath, just wondering did you go for the "resonated" or the "non-resonated" version of the Milltek and the reasons behind it? Cheers.

I am one example, another I can think of is Grig(fully modified his R32 with custom exhaust and now owns a MKVI Gti). I'm sure he will jump in and dismiss this but here goes.

Yes I am familiar with G-rig. He had Milltek cat back on his MkV R32. Harding performance headers perhaps?

I suppose for the "thrill" of driving you are in the higher RPM ranges, where the benefits of a well designed exhaust are most effective. If that's at the expense of a little bottom end torque, then so be it.

Tuning in australia is very timid. I know of 1 mk4 R32 in Sydney which has had headwork, Schrick cams, Evo MS intake, EIP/Milltek exhaust. Made 176kw atw N/A and it screams around Eastern Creek. This gentleman does know what he is doing (and I haven't heard another R32 (mk4 or mk5) that sounds as good as this one!
N/A tuning isn't cheap but was happy with the results and posted several dynos of 149kW at all fours which wasn't bad for intake/catback and headers. A lot of R & D went into the headers from what i know, and Stock cars make 125-ish kW some less. Didn't notice any loss in the bottom end or torque to be honest, it actually came on earlier if anything as was easy to drive around town.

Another 25kW with cams would be ok but they aren't cheap either. If anything the R32 could use some weight loss.

The Milltek catback is a good system and doesn't lose power, nor claims 50HP like other 6k exhausts.

Anyway thezoneR32 I sold the car for other reasons and wasn't planning on getting a GTI.

The APR tune is also a lot cheaper than when i got it!

Hi mate, went the non res... thought a stright thru pipe might yeild better HP results

There is drone at times, but you can shift up/down to eliminate it

          Edit: nice bike and pipe!
