  • Clicking clunking turning left, right - cv constant velocity joints or other?

G'day. My 2006 Mk5 2.0 Tdi dsg with approx 85K since new has a click or clunk when turning left or right. It is not at full lock either way, and it is not all the time. I wonder what it is. I have had a look at the forums. Car has been driven sedately and not cornered hard. Driveway has an initial ridge on entry/exit. I surmise that's the cause. I don't know how to determine what this click or clunk is?

    In Brisbane, Ipswich area.

    Suggest to take to
    1. dealer workshop
    2. vw specialist
    3. steering specialist

Not sure who to take it to, or what is a regular price. I don't want to be overcharged or have work done that is not required.

Thank you for any information and suggestions. Regards, Browny

this could be the issue with the subframe bolts not being tight enough...

have a search on this forum, or on Golf V Forum. I'm sure I read about it.

I've sold my 08 GTI which had similar problem...but of course the service guy couldn't replicate it

I know what you mean regarding replication/service guy. I will search "subframe bolts" to find out what they are etc

Satz, thanks for the subframe bolt consideration. Is THIS the thread you referred to? If so, I don't get the sound on acceleration-deceleration. Only with the steering wheel turning left and right...though not all times, and not full lock.

I'm yet to find any more info.
