  • DNA Tuned MkV GTI

I got my Golf V GTI tuned by John @ DNA, with the more aggressive tune (two are available).

While skeptical of the power increases that an ECU tune can make (in a general sense, there is only so much power a small turbo can make), I'm happy with the way the car performs following the tune.

There is a much stronger mid range and seems to rev harder and longer.

You can definately feel the boost coming on earlier and stronger, and makes it easier to drive at the same time.

The power is still quite linear, so no on-off power curve you get some some large turbo set ups (and poor tunes), still feels very factory like.

Overall, I'm happy with the results. The $730 promotion is a bonus.

For those still running stock, there are much worst ways to spend $730. ECU tunes are generally the best bang for buck upgrade for a turbo car.

I don't intend to undertake further power mods, as I don't think the car will perform better/handle any more power anyway.

So, at this stage, I'll start looking at handling mods, rather than chase more power.

John was very helpful also. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f90/...fsi-51202.html

I have run the GTI on the dyno when it was stock, when the Horse Power Factory has another open dyno day I will take it there to map the difference on the same graph.

Glad it is working out well for you.

$730 is a bargain for an agressive ecu remap.

Are you able to switch to a stock map and will the dealer be able to tell if the ecu has been remapped?

Not able to switch to stock map, not that I would every want to.

I specifically waited for my warranty expired before I did the ECU upgrade.

Knowing that I haven't had to make a warranty claim on the drive train, I should have done it when I purchased the car

Hi John, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the car; and thank you very much for the praising review!

ps. your friend Adam is loving his tune on his polo, thanks for referring him to get his car tuned as well.
