  • VCDS Low Beam Reflector Error

    Gday,

I received my MicroCan today and thought I'd do a scan.

There was one fault that came up which confirmed a couple of instances when the light bulb failure indicator popped up over the weekend...it disappears after I turn on the high beam then back to low beam. The high beam to low beam works just fine.

This also started happening after I changed the high beam H7 globes to Narva BluePowers...which are also rated at 55W.

I'm going to change the bulbs back to the Philips LongLife bulbs...but I'm just confused as to why a bulb with the same wattage ratings would result in the bulb failure indicator popping up even though the xenon motors are obviously working when I change from high to low beam?

    VCDS output below:

    1 Fault Found:
02499 - Right Low Beam Reflector Motor (V295)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
    Freeze Frame:

Battery voltage seems a little low, shouldnt it be above 13V?

Not unless the engine's running, which it probably wasn't, and there's usually some voltage drop if the measuring point is far from the battery.

"xenon motors" what kind of headlights you have? Stock reflector, Stock HID or aftermarket HID?

The error sounds to me is about the leveling motor that drives the reflector inside the light house

          Stock HID xenons.

Just so strange that changing light bulbs in the high beams and parking lights not related to the xenons would cause this?

I changed the high beam H7 and parking lights back to stock last night. I'll see if it reoccurs.
