  • Rear windscreen wiper removal

I did a search but couldn't find any threads relating to this in the MK5 section.

I've been looking to remove my rear windscreen wiper and the only thing that has stopped me from doing so is choosing which plug to fill the hole with. I've found this link from another forum and I stumbled on their website and found that a VWWC member has used it basing from one of their pictures.

Anyone have any experiences with this model or recommend any other ones?

Heckwischerabdeckung aus Glas - Stopfen - Glas - Glasstopfen für Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda - Wischerlochabdeckung, Heckwischerabdeckung, de-wipering plug

edit: or because I have a silver car I should go for the APR one?

Search didn't work for me Removing it the same reason why people change their antenna to a stubby antenna. Asthetics I have never used the rear windscreen wiper since I bought the car brand new.

One day you might want to sell the car and need a blue slip and as you have removed the rear wiper, [which is part of the cars original equipment] the approved inspection station might not give you the blue slip . The rear wiper is part of the safety features, the radio Aerial is not .
If it worries you that much just remove the wiper arm ?

If I were to sell my car, I would just put the wiper arm and motor back in. It's a very easy job, have a look at the DIY basically just removing a few bolts.

I know people who have done it first hand but I'm just tracking down the VWWC member who bought the glass fill in notch like the one I posted above

Hey brendan, As I spoke to you last night. It's a very easy job.. Hardest part I found was taking the plastic off the inside of the hatch. Other than that it works itself out. As for the hole, I just used a rubber stopper, Black car/dark tint, It flows pretty well still. For the blue slip issue... LOL.
It is just as easy to reverse as it is to do.

It looks hella cleaner afterwards... You don't relise how bulky and ugly it looks until compared.

:Honda also make a OEM flush type one that fits.

I'm with you, I removed my front wipers and the car looks so sleek now, truly the best mod ever! Can't drive in the rain unless I go fast but it looks so much better.

As for the photo of homeboy Michael's Golf in the first post, talk about lame only tinting the rear tail lights to allow 50% of the light through. I found that colour coding the rear tail lights to let through 4% of light to be the best, you should see how many people speed up to the rear of my car and screech to a halt to check out the look.

Do you really rely on the rear wiper that much? I seriously have not ever used it before, even when during rain I can still see out of the rear.

                          This.
If you wax your rear window it will prevent it even more, Crystal clear. I too have never used it.

Lol, I heard maverick wasn't liked very much... I see why.

                            Maverick not liked?? by who??
Thats trully a funny statement, espescially since he happens to be one of the largest contributor of technical information related to VAG...

I myself was looking at this rear wiper delete mod, but after actually seeing a friend fail rego inspection on his DC2R Honda with the same mod, i thought twice about it! Yes he failed the rego inspection, i honestly never thought it would be something that would actually be looked at but it is a safety feature after all.

Annnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd... as for Waxxing or RainX on the back windscreen, if a nice boy in blue deciced to pull you over and noticed that the rear wiper was missing, it wouldnt be a good excuse to say "but i have RainX or Wax on my windscreen, so the water beeds off"... It would be a straight up defect notice...

But if we are talking purely looks then yeah i think its looks nice and clean... lol
