  • Are these tyres any good?

    Hi all,

Got this back from the dealership when I enquired as to what tyres they were fitting to the 18" Vision Rims I purchased thru them.

Dealer said they would be a Continental CSC 225/40R18.

Are these tyres at least the same quality that comes on the factory fitted 18" rims?

Conti SportContact2 are often Std on the GTI. Great tyre.

CSC could be the original Conti SportContact (AKA CSC1). We have these on our Alfa - lovely steering precision, good ride, good wet and dry grip, but can become noisy as they wear. I understand the CSC2 is not much more expensive - maybe get a price on those too?

Spensive maaaaate. $400+ per tyre (for 17").

Our GTI has them, and even though some people seem to bag them, probably because they're OEM, I dunno, anyway, I've found them to be pretty damn good. Not noisy at all, either generally speaking, or when punting pretty hard. Only real criticism is they could be better wet weather tyres, but they're certainly adequate in that regard. When it comes time to replace them I reckon for quite a lot less money there'll be something around that will at least be as good, if not better. But, assuming you've been looked after a bit for the purchase of your 18s, you should be fine.

              Cheers Liam

18" Vision Rims, Tyres & Sports Suspension was $3000 dealership fitted. List price for factory fitted upgrade is $2,990. The suspension springs and limiters were coming from Germany, hence the wait which gives me time to research the tyres aspect.

I'm not sure if the tyres being fitted are SC1 or SC2.

Will go back to the dealer for confirmation.

Incidentally I priced the SC2 225/40R18 from Bob Jane T-Mart - got a price of $580 to $600 per tyre

Most excellent, dealership confirmed they will be SC2's. Exactly the same as the tyres on my Audi which is being traded in. Those tyres were fantastic

                    Very happy with that

Dealer also said they were looking at a delivery to me late next week - even happier with that...
