Axel tramp not an issue on the R32.

My H&R Sways arrived yesterday from the US! Thats 6 days from the date of order!

I have a longer wait just trying to get them fitted! Be careful with the exchange rate. Paypal are a bit of a rip off. I ended up paying US$94.4c to AUS$1 even tho the advertised rate was 99.4c. It was only ten bucks or so difference anyway.

You're not making this any easier for me....maybe I'll give this a go first?

If you're not tracking the car, the engine mount insert is great bang for buck. Just be careful with installation.. it looks easier than it is. However considering you're looking at the haldex, coils and sways, you sound like you will be taking it to the track so maybe the whole mount might suit your needs better. Unless you have too much money and just "want to have them".. then you can also buy me an RSS turbo kit

No track for me....no time and ongoing funding of such a pastime is not really available.

I just love investing a little money in my cars to improve dynamics like handling that come a little too conservative out of the factory. I have an engine mount insert in my current car (Mazda 3) and it was awesome for a week and then the noticeable benefit really started to wear off. Wheel hop is unlikely to be a major issue on the R32 due to the stock Haldex setup, but smoother gear shifting (especially when having some fun) is what I am really interested in. Just need to weigh up the $50 vs $200 proposition (and read a few more reviews).

Swaybar upgrades are a must for any FWD (or predominantly FWD) cars in my opinion, as there is generally a noticeable improvement in handling even in day to day driving. I know the biggest value is in the rear sway bar, but I figure for a few extra $$$ going the full kit probably isn't the worst idea.

Should be good fun regardless of what I do.

We probably got our sway bars sent at the same time Got mine delivered 2 days ago. But instead of buying via paypal knowing how paypal screws you with the exchange rate i did it via credit card.

And i also installed the dogbone insert myself and agree its $50 well spent, its a VERY Easy mod. Just need 2 jack stands, hammer and socket set cant remember what size socket it was. Made a very noticible difference in the smoother shifting of the DSG (less clunky if that makes sense)

Intake sound is awesome - i used to run the included snorkel but made it sound stock - made a thread somehwere on here

Intake was my first Mod and i did notice marginal increase in throtle control - but matched with the exhaust and tune its brillant

The VF intake also looks a good kit

I don't have anything to compare to...never drove this or any other R32 without an intake, but there is a slight whistle while the throttle is open. I like it, but wouldn't be expecting any worthwhile performance gains without the other upgrades as mentioned.

P.s. What is the general verdict on exhaust upgrades for the MKV R32? Some of the aftermarket options seem a little obnoxious (and pricey), although I'm basing this on youtube clips alone. haven't actually seen another R32 in the flesh for a long time. MagnaFlow? Milltek? S/Steel custom with some nice tips? Others???

I got the magnaflow (sport) it is Loud but sounds awesome with the intake (vf), and imo don't really see the point spending more on anything else. But if i did have the money I would love a Capristo
Was only around $700 delivered when the exchange was around 90c.
If you want something quieter maybe have a look at the magnaflow touring version...

Capristo exhausts are 7,000 - think you missed a 0

I used to have magnaflow on previous cars, i choose the Milltek as it has proven performance. Best to save a little and get somthing with a good track record

here is a link with dyno tests after each mod.... (mindful fuel octane tested was 91) But its true saying driveabilty isnt refelcted on the charts!

Getting my H&R sways fitted today. Anyone have an idea of what an appropriate labor charge would be on this?

Also I emailed ECS regarding the entire mount kit and they advised that although the trans and engine will be "tighter" the "in cabin" noise and vibration will increase substantially. Maybe just the dogbone is the go?

Let me know how you go with the labour charges, as i got mine at home along with W.A.L.K and bushings waiting to go on and was wondering the same thing. Ive heard its approx 3 hr job for front and rears so i guess you times that by labour charges per hour and wheel alignment cost.

Maybe just try dogbone first and see how you like it...

Oh and i see you have the Haldex gen 2 how much was that to get installed or is it an easy DIY.

I meant $700 for the magnaflow sorry, ive seen somewhere (cant remember where) that there was dyno gains of 9hp and a little bit of torque (cant remember exactly).
The exhaust looked good and well fabricated when i had it delivered and just couldnt justify spending close to another $1000 for very minimal gains and it really was a purchase for a louder deeper meaner sounding exhaust

Got the H&R sways fitted. The labor was about $400, not cheap. That included a wheel alignment and GST. The difference is amazing tho. The whole car is really tied down now. Turn in responsiveness and feedback has increased substantially. Understeer virtually non-existent only when you deliberately induce it, eg step on the gas hard before the apex of a really tight turn. It also feels smoother and more expensive to drive now. This is a no brainer. I would describe the drive before the sways as sloppy compared to this. I would go as far as to say that doing the coilovers alone is a waste of time as would be a rear only sway.

Ill get back to you on this. Have to dig out my invoice. It wasn't cheap. But then nothing seems to be with this car compared to the 3rb liberty that i owned before.

wow $400 for fittment of Sways (not sure what a wheel alignment is worth by itself..) who did the install?

My old (bmw approved) mechanic took under 10-15 minutes to remove and install my rear sway bar with new mounts with a little clean inbetween - He is located in Brunswick and i would assume do it under $200 if anyone wants his details PM me

I have a good haldex install guide i can email people if they are interested, will be doing it myself with the same mate as above
