    Yes, another one

Picked up my new Blue Graphite TFSI (DSG) Jetta last night. She's stock except for the VW 18s - couldn't resist.

Very happy with it so far, going to find it hard to be gentle during the run-in! That engine and gearbox just want to go!

A quick one - anyone know if the stacker is MP3 compatible or not? The manual says it is, the dealer said it was ... but I burnt a CD and tried it and it just rejects it as a "CD ROM"

It's not a big drama if it's not MP3 compatible (as it doesn't say in the brochure), but would be nice if it was ...

    Welcome to the forum DionM

I'm sure you'll find plenty of info here. As for the gentle run-in, I think you'll find a lot of different opinions on how to do it, and i would probably say - don't be too gentle with it!

The cd stacker - not mp3 compatible...

    Cheers,

          Welcome DionM,
Making me jealous, still waiting for mine.
Did you get the 18" Vision rims, or something else.
Also, what make & model of tyres came with the rims?

          Enjoy,
          Geoff.

NB: Yes, please post some pictures I can dribble over

I got the Charleston alloys. No idea about the tyres, haven't checked!

Had a quick look online, your rims look quite nice.
If you could post back with the tyre info I would appreciate it.
The dealer is fitting my rims and tyres so I want to make sure the tyres are of the same standard as a VW factory fit.

Hi DionM, congratulations on the purchase! Pretty much the same as me
Now all you need is an APR tune

geoffp, the tyres that came on my Charleston 18" were Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, which are an excellent and not cheap tyre, so make sure that's what you get!

                  Gday tofo17,

Thanks for that. I will be getting the dealership to confirm what tyres are going onto the rim before pickup.

EDIT: As a matter of fact I have just emailed the salesperson asking for that information.

I think I'll be leaving this one stockers. I've just come from a 4WD so it feels like a rocketship even at 1/2 throttle

Ooh . .. another fellow Jetta owner. . .Pfft .. yup, its true, everyone's getting their car before me.. .sad sad sad. heh heh.

So all Jetta owners with 18" - the ride is still ok versus the standard 17" ?
                      Especially you DionM - coming from a 4wd , how's the ride..

Yeah, im also a bit curious about the running in process.. im planning on just driving mine normally, probably the only thing I wouldn't do is the whole launch control technique. At least for the first 1km past the dealership.

Must admit ride is a little choppy, but not bad. Certainly not kidney hurting like my brother's lowered S13 Silvia on 18s. Certainly fine on the highway etc, just some rubbish Brisbane backroads get a bit bumpy

Gonna do a highway run this weekend (maybe even Mt Glorious) so will see then.

Enjoy . .im sure its going to be a revelation for you this coming weekend..

I'll be sticking with the 17" for now - though aesthetically the 18" look much more satisfying. .
We definitely have some rubbish backroads down here in melb too..

That's the main reason I went with 18s, the standard 17s for the TFSI just don't do it for me. If the TFSI came with 17" versions of the Charlestons I probably would have not bought the 18s.

Having said that, it looks great on the 18s

Can't wait to give it a good run, been ages since I've had a good handling car (last one was a Pulsar SSS) and never had one this fast

Ahh yes, the glorious ol' N14/n15 SSS - still great cars..
I must say, pretty good resale values still.

Yeah, I agree with you there, the standard wheels do look a bit ...meh... and definitely will be pretty hard to clean with the spoke count.
So much so, dependant on finance, Im considering just swapping rims for something a bit more open .. But i'll probably stick to 17" - I've moved from a harder sprung car and I want some plushness. or do looks win..
Age old question. Each to their own i say.
